Stakeholders Workshop In Thailand

GIZ-RFPI Asia highlighted its program, best learned practices and approach to support partner regulators in the recently concluded ADB-led fora, The OIC FPO Forum and The Microinsurance Stakeholders’ Forum last April 29 & 30 at the Windsor Suites Hotel, Thailand.

In these missions, GIZ-RPI Asia engaged the officers of Thailand’s Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) and its Ministry of Finance (MoF) in the OIC FPO Forum and the insurance companies along with the OIC and MoF officers in the Microinsurance Stakeholders’ Forum.

Dr. Antonis Malagardis, program director and Dante Portula, senior advisor on regional policy shared the recent microinsurance development, initiatives done in Thailand and recommendations with Michael McCord, president of MicroInsurance Centre and the ADB Team on Development of a Strategic Framework for Financial Inclusion, Mike Adair and Robert Hickson

In addition, RFPI Asia team also exchanged ideas with OIC representatives–Varawan Vechasut, deputy secretary general, Surin Tanasupapol, assistant secretary general, and officers Siripak Suwannadath (MI-200), Pongpop Trisdikhun (international affairs department), and Somkuan Wattanapitayakul, (insurance market development).
